GERBANG IO MENAMBATKAN

At the March 2020 General meeting, a motion was approved that “The LFA will hire a consultant to undertake an internal JEDI review. This work will be inclusive of the LFA membership”. Following the election of the current Board, initiatives were undertaken to issue an RFP and form a selection committee to review submissions for recommendations.

The selection committee is pleased to announce that FMRA has been selected as the successful consultant. FMRA will employ Design Thinking, a methodology that prioritizes empathy and iteration throughout the project. Key aspects of their proposal include in-depth interviews with members and analysis of existing union governance documents. The project is slated to begin in mid-February and be completed with a final report with recommendations by July 2022.

Stay tuned for an invitation to meet FMRA to kick off the event (date TBA). Please join us at that time for more information and discussions.

Members of the JEDI Selection Committee: Pauline Greaves-Aylward, Natalie Knight, Colin Mills, Lauren Vedal, Joy Walcott-Francis and Joyce Wong

CARA MEMBELI DI GATE.IO

With support from the LFA, on August 12 the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC (FPSE) sent a letter to the Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training (AEST) expressing concerns about safe fall return to campus. In particular, FPSE expressed concerns about the one-size-fits-all approach outlined in the COVID-19 Return to Campus Guidelines issued by AEST on July 5, which limits the ability of post-secondary institutions to provide safe working and learning environments.

With gate.io, FPSE is a federation of independent unions representing over 10,000 faculty and staff at colleges and teaching universities across BC. The LFA is local 14 of FPSE.
